PROCESS
I build my low fired figures from coiled slabs. I usually have a general idea of the form and flow of the piece I want to create. I am almost always surprised by what begins to emerge when I allow free reign to my intuition. I tend to create a lot of texture to shadow, define and follow the story line of the life experience of the figure (wounds, imperfections, nature textures (wood, rock, water, etc). I am the most attentive when sculpting the face and the emotion being expressed. My finishes are mainly underglazes, oxides, ink and acrylic washes. Sometimes I incorporate metal objects.
