Summer has officially started here in Asheville, and with it a heat wave too. A few days ago we were warmer then New Orleans, my home town!!
Garden Update: Glenn and I finally got our veggies in the ground. Now we are trying to keep them from croaking from all the heat. Ok, we are ready for some serious rain. Luckily, the weather will be turning for all the up coming events, such as: Toe River Studio Tour (10th-12th). Yeah, it is fun weaving in and out of valleys and mountains to see artists in their studios showing off their work. River District Artists annual Studio Stroll. If you are heading off to Bakersville for the Rhododendron Fest (17th-19th), please tell Jann Welch we said, "Hi"! Downtown Asheville's Art in Park starts this Saturday. So much to see and do, so little time.
Next week I am attending orientation to become a reading tutor. I am excited about this venture, because I will be helping adults to read and right English right here in our community. Also, I donated a painting for the Literacy Council's Silent Auction; which will happen in August. Also, Thank You very much to all the artists who have donated for the auction. I hope you all will check out this organization.....The tutors /volunteers really make a positive change in people's lives and the economy.
Happy Reading and Planting!
…Christin
