Margaret Katz Nodine
Statement
I paint because I have something to say, I have to say it and, Lord knows, I'm no writer. My work is solidly in the expressionist tradition, which emphases my inner experience of the subject, not a realistic portrayal of it.
Since moving to the mountains of Western North Carolina, my subjects now include horses, goats, dogs and the occasional cow. But my fascination with people, particularly of this region, continues to inspire me. I am grateful and happy when some are so moved by the work that they take it home and it becomes part of their lives. That makes me feel a great sense of fulfillment, and I am truly honored.
