Artist statement

The peaceful atmosphere of my home studios in Key West, Fl and Asheville, NC afford me the freedom to investigate, explore and effectively present the inner world I inhabit much of the time. My inspiration arises out of a strong desire to capture fleeting images, both real and imaginary, and freeze in time the shadows that flicker across the mind’s eye.

My work has evolved over many yeas of experimentation. What began as photo-realism painting has evolved into an abstract interplay of vivid color, provocative forms, line and texture. Forms that invite meditation and reflecting light from within are some elements that define the continuity of my style. Both the abstract expressionist and surrealist movements have greatly influenced my work.

I am always working, always learning, and sharing my slightly off-kilter vision of both my inner and outer world, with communication, clarity and impact as my primary goals.
